# How We Evaluate

Our editorial standards for evaluating laundry products and care advice: how we choose what to recommend, how products are assessed, and how we handle results we have not measured ourselves.

## How we choose what to recommend

We shortlist products on formulation, concentration, declared ingredients, certifications and independent consumer testing — never on commercial upside. Every recommendation leads with the trade-offs, not just the strengths, and we say plainly when a cheaper or simpler option does the job.

## How products are assessed

We assess products on what can be verified: published formulation and concentration, declared ingredients and certifications, manufacturer specifications, and independent consumer and laboratory testing. We weigh those signals against each other, compare like for like, and lead with the honest trade-off rather than an upside-only pitch.

We do not operate an in-house wash-test rig, so we never present a measured result as our own. Any stain-lift percentage, durability score or lab figure is attributed to the third party that produced it — see the next section.

## Results we have not measured ourselves

Where we cite a stain-lift percentage, a durability figure or a lab result, it is attributed to its source in the article. We never present an unmeasured claim as our own finding, and we do not publish stain-lift percentages we have not produced.

## Independence & funding

Launderwise is an independent laundry and fabric-care publication. Some product links are commercial links that may support the site. That relationship never decides which product wins a category, and disclosures appear above the fold on any page with affiliate links.

## Keeping advice current

We revisit guides when products change, prices shift or new evidence emerges, and we update the "last updated" date only when the content has genuinely been revised — never as a freshness signal on its own.
